Did you know...
...the Rotterdam port railway line is a crucial link for container transport between the port and the European hinterland.
Rotterdam port railway crucial for logistics
The blockade shows once again how vulnerable logistics chains can be. Rail plays a key role in moving containers and goods from the port towards Europe.
Disruptions on the Rotterdam port railway not only cause delays, but can also have major financial consequences. In previous blockades, estimates put the damage at around €150,000 per hour.
For companies, this means that deliveries are delayed and schedules have to be adjusted. Especially in a port where speed and reliability are essential, a temporary stoppage has an immediate impact.
The action simultaneously underlines the growing tension between economic interests, logistics and social protests.
